Please note if you have multiple classrooms we try to schedule our facilitators to run the program back-to-back on the same day (e.g. Classroom A at 9am and Classroom B at 10am) **up to maximum of 30 students/class. Our experience has revealed that presenting to larger groups is less meaningful as students don’t tend to be as engaged in the activities.

***We find Free To Be is best run 2x a week for 3 weeks, or 1x a week for 6 weeks as having space between the sessions allows students to internalize the information they are learning and to work on projects to the best of their ability. For example, in session 5 students in small groups create a big project that they teach or present to their classmates about positive body image (and is often marked by the teacher). Feedback student’s have provided us has revealed that they like to have time to work on the project or else they don’t feel as proud of their work.

Note for success: The Free To Be program is designed to be integrated into curriculum as it covers all 6 core competencies within the new BC curriculum. Moreover, our experience has shown that students engage more thoughtfully with the information if they are held accountable, either through being marked for activities or for participation. At the end of each session can the teacher please collect the activity booklets so that none get lost. *
