Why did you decide to volunteer to teach the Free To Be program?

I have always been passionate about working with young adults and being a teacher/role model for them. The FTB program offers a great opportunity to connect with young people about topics that are prevalent today and has such valuable and relevant information for young people could really benefit from.

What gets your excited to jump out of bed in the morning?

I get excited that each and every day is brand new and unique, no two days are identical. I also love early mornings, waking up and going on a hike or run when it’s still so quiet out and it feels like everyone else in the neighborhood is still sleeping.

What is something you are proud of?

I am proud of the life I have created for myself. I am proud of the things I have chosen to make important in my life, family, education, travel and proud that I have entered a career where I can help others find what their passions are as well.

In your mind what is the most important thing that Free To Be teaches?

It does a good job of teaching young people to stop and think about the messages being taught to them in social media. Instead of just believing everything they hear, it teaches them to think more critically and trust what their own thoughts, feelings and emotions are trying to tell them.

If you could go back and give your 12-year old self a piece of advice, what would it be?

Ask lots of questions, read a lot of books, be adventurous, experience as many sports, activities and hobbies as you can and play, be a kid for as long as you can.
